Tim Hampson “Ossian” 34 string harp in cherry, built 2012
£3,000.
2 owners from new
Extremely light weight traditional clarsach.
Gut strung, low B to high G. Lightly strung, “one octave light” from concert tension, with folk string-spacing.
Sweet bright tone and quiet levers. Keeps its tuning well and doesn’t break strings.
Weighs 7.5 kg - the first owner asked the maker to weigh wood samples in stock and she chose cherry as the lightest. Economical on space too, great for taking to pub sessions.
Currently fitted with a set of 8” legs from Pilgrim – these make it more stable than its original feet, which are included, along with its velveteen lined travel cover (by Salopian), tuning wrench & wallet, string chart, purchase paperwork and some spare strings.
More photos available.
Based in Cumbria, 5 minutes from M6 (Tebay). Collection only, but could arrange to hand over at the Summer Festival at Higham.

Galloway Gems
Remembering Lyn Walby in Dumfries and Galloway
When Lyn and Paul moved from Egremont to Kircudbright Lyn immediately joined the Dumfries
and Galloway branch of the Clarsach Society and its informal group Lochthorn Harps. Her
inimitable personality, her energy and determination in adversity, her support and encouragement
to all made her many friends as it had in HNW.
To celebrate Lyn we have compiled Galloway Gems: a book of twelve new tunes and
arrangements by Wendy Stewart and Mary Wilson, a mix of solos and two part pieces.
Cost £10 pp £2.50. I am sure this book will delight HNW members too.
Contact the Dumfries and Galloway Clarsach Branch for details on how to order your copy.
Copies will also be available at the EIHF in Edinburgh in April, where Wendy is playing with The
Galloway Agreement and DG members will be playing in the Fantasy of Harps concert.
