Absolute Beginners' Workshop with harps provided

Tutor: Maxine Molin Rose

Venue: Over Kellet Village Hall, near Carnforth, Lancashire

Open to people of all ages with or without any previous musical experience. The workshop gives a taster of basic technique in playing the clarsach (also called the Small harp or Lever harp) as well as learning different sound effects on the harp and learning some simple tunes.

Course Fee: £20.This workshop is fully booked.

Young Players' Workshop

Tutor: Maxine Molin Rose

Venue: Over Kellet Village Hall, near Carnforth

Suitable for young players of mixed abilities. Not for complete beginners.
The workshop will focus on ensemble playing and learning how to interact and listen to each other as a group whilst playing together. Also a solo piece will be provided which you’ll be able to take away and learn at home.

A Weekend with a Small Harp 

Weekend course for players of the lever or folk harp supported by Harps North West in collaboration with Higham Hall College  at Basssenthwaite Lake, Cockermouth, Cumbria.

Tutors:  Gwenan Gibbard and Charlotte Petersen  
Gwenan will offer a chance to sample and learn some Welsh traditional music. From slow airs to hornpipes, from jigs to reels, to the old harp melodies of the 18th and 19th Centuries, it's all part of the unbroken tradition of Welsh harp playing.    Charlotte will teach a range of Scottish and European tunes arranged for solo and some arranged for ensemble.   

There will be solos and ensemble parts to suite different levels of ability suitable from elementary to advanced, but  the course is not suitable for complete beginners.

Course fees: Residential  £170;   Non-residential £115.
